Habeenkii

By Abdifatah Farah

Translated in Somali by Abderazak Mohamed Ali

Hal-adeyga Nololasha  muxuu
Habeenkii u soo hoydaa.
Haddaan u hurnay harkii
Heysashada Naftoo quraa.

Hoqeey heybin iyo hamuun
Hadafkii noloshaan miyaan
Hayaan cusub ugu jirnaa.

Maxay laba haleysan ba
Hagaag hal abuur helaan.

Hadoodi Maxaa galshay,
Halyey dagaal aan ka harin.

Maxaa hubqaadka heley
Hurdada u haleeli waa.

Heehaabka hoosta furan
Halkuu ku haftaa ileys
Hingaada sheeko huban
Habeen horay ugu hoyaa

Ma Halkii Mississippi baa
Ma  holacii macatabkaa
Humaag naloo hoos galshoo

Horteena la soo dhigaa.

Hal adeyga Nolosha muxuu
Habeenkii u soo hoydaa
Haddaan u hurnay harkii
Heysashada Naftoo quraa

THE NIGHT

Why is night the hardest
time to be alive,
If we spend most of our days
Trying to survive?

Maybe we are searching for the meaning of life,
Why two wrongs make a right,
Why God takes lives from those who fight,
Why those who fight find sleepless nights,
Searching for tunnels at the end of the light,
To tell beautiful tales of history passing in plain sight

Could it be the Mississippi cross burning at night
If we spend most of our days trying to survive?

Why is night the hardest
time to be alive,
If we spend most of our days
Trying to survive?
